From the time you enter Brasstown Bald park you notice the steep climb to the parking area at the top of the mountain. It is a a winding road uphill the entire way. Brasstown Bald is Georgia's highest mountain. When you park at the top you still have a climb ahead of you!
Rising 4,784 feet, you get the feeling of being on top of the world. From the summit, you get a spectacular view of the north Georgia mountains. Here you can see four states, Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina on a clear day. Be sure to bring comfortable shoes and a jacket because the wind is always blowing at this location of the state.
At the summit you will find the Visitor Information Center which will provide an excellent spot to take pictures, rest from the climb and a chance to see the state from this unique height. The trail to the top is paved and winds through the forest sheltering you from the direct wind. The trip shown in the video was made in February and there was a chill in the air, but this did not stop many adventurous families from enjoying the sunshine as they walked to the top. Along the way there are rest areas to catch your breath and enjoy the wooded view of nature. In the spring when the mountain laurels flower, you can also enjoy their colorful displays and fragrance.

The Visitor Center at the top is open from Memorial Day through the fall in October. There are areas for picnics with the family, side trails that offer a less strenuous walk around the park and comfort facilities. Even from the parking area you can sit and have great vista views, as well as see the tower at the top. Children especially love to walks the paths and climb on the rocks. During the summer months the theater at the top gives you time to pause and rest before you walk back down to your car at the parking lot below.
