Dukes Creek Falls is located at the southern end of the Richard Russell Scenic Highway just north of Helen, Georgia. During the fall of the year, this park is rich in fall colors but regardless when you visit this location you will find nature at it's best.
The park itself is small with picnic facilities, restrooms and walking paths to the base of the Duke Creek Falls. The upper section of the trail is paved and readily accessible by the handycap. Further down from the upper section is a pleasant path that is not difficult to walk and is at a grade easy for most folks to take at their leasure. The total length is a mile and the path does have a number of switchbacks, but around each curve offers another beautiful view of nature. The path is wide enough to allow travel in both directions and you will likely pass others who have taken the path before you.
During late spring, summer and early fall, light clothing is recommended. You can work up a sweat on the trail but there are plenty of opportunities to take a seat and rest. Since the only facilities at the falls are stairs and decks, you may thank yourself for taking a water bottle too.
 
The Richard Russell Highway does close at times in the winter due to weather conditions. If there is the possibility of ice, large sections are closed with barracades. During warmer times of the year, you will find the trip very enjoyable.
